How to Be a Witch.
A witch is a practitioner of witchcraft. Witchcraft is a practice that uses natural forces of energy, herbalism, visualization, divination, and other means, in order to bring about a result specified by the practitioner. A witch can be religious, or not. Often, a religious witch will follow a pagan-based religion. Wicca is often associated with witchcraft, but the practice of witchcraft is not a main tenet in Wicca.
Create a space dedicated to spellwork, and storing tools and ingredients.
Spellwork takes up space, and religious witches sometimes consider the space for their spellwork to be special or sacred, so something like a table, spare room, or toolshed, etc., set aside for your practice is vital. Some things to have handy are:
* Candles
* Herbs
* Essential oils
* Incense
* Mortar and Pestle
* Bowls, plates, mugs, utensils, incense burners and candle holders
* Electric Kettle
* Divinatory tools (ie, Tarot cards, I Ching, runes, etc.)
Develop an Understanding for the Natural Forces of Magic
There is an essence that connects everything in this world, and it is this essence that is tapped into with spellwork and magic. Religious witches often view this essence as being part of the Divine. A non-religious witch may view this force or essence as being a natural, secular force, or natural law. As a witch, you must develop an understanding of what this force or essence is, and learn to tap into it. If you are a religious witch who believes that that magic is a force that is part of the Divine, a strong relationship with the Divine will help you in your spellwork.
